Over the weekend we held our first soy candle making workshop for 2015, which was taught at Melton South Community Centre. With four very excited students, the class was a blast!
This photo was taken before the students arrived. Their workstations are all set up with candle making supplies ready to go, including a new booklet that we have produced especially for this workshop.
After Kim gave the first part of the lesson about why we use soy wax, and made a demonstration candle, the students began to make their own candles. Kim provided them with a large square glass, mosaic glass, melt clam shell, and some tealights or maxi-lights.
During the class, Kim helps the students with any issues, and is there to guide them with her wealth of knowledge. Besides that she loves to share candle making stories and gives them success secrets through the workshop.
Here is a student workstation before the workshop started. Everything they needed to be successful in their candle making session laid out at their fingertips.
Here is one of our students stirring a colour chip into the melted soy wax. After the colour is well mixed, then she added her choice of fragrance oil to scent the candle.
What I like most about this workshop is that everyone has a lot of fun and leaves with smiles on their faces. But then again, what is not love about soy candle making? Your finished candles are scented the way you like them and they are much cheaper than the ones you can buy. And best of all, you can say you made it yourself. The icing on the cake is that friends and family will love them as gifts! I know ours do.
Thanks to Christine, Lynda, Amy, and Kerrie for attending our soy candle making workshop! We had a great time teaching you all a new skill. Lynda also wrote a blog post about the event which you can check out at Living in the Land of OZ.
Now I know that not everyone can make it to our workshops, so we have created a range of Soy Candle Making kits that are available for sale in our online shop. We also have supplies and equipment so that you can top up after the kit supplies run out.
So if you don’t live locally and can’t attend a workshop, pop over to the shop.
Kim has created some amazing Soy Candle Making products at great prices. We have tealight and soy melt kits, plus all the other supplies you may need for your candle making endeavours.
