Curd Nerd News Edition #37
G'day Curd Nerds. Thanks for joining me this week!
Something different this week. A while back during the height of the pandemic, I decided to put some of the leftover whey to good use and ferment it into alcohol with the help of some local honey. More below.

Making Alcohol from Cheese Whey - Blaand
18 months in the making, I made a delightful alcoholic drink from whey, a byproduct of cheesemaking. My version of Blaand is somewhat like a dry sherry, so it's very drinkable!
If you want to make this beverage, here are the ingredients and equipment you'll need to start.
- 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) Honey (any type)
- approx 4 Litres or 1 gallon of Sweet Whey
- 3/4 tsp mead yeast
Don't forget to watch the video for the full instructions and process and let me know via a reply email if you are interested in more brewing content!

We're a Veteran Business!
Did you know that we are a veteran business? Yes, I'm an old salty sailor. I spent 20 years and 1 day in the Royal Australian Navy initially as a Seaman Radio Operator and then finished as a Chief Petty Officer in Communications Information Systems. The highlight of my naval career was my service aboard the Frigate HMAS Adelaide during the 1st Gulf War in 1990-91. I retired from the service in July 2000 after 7 years of instructing recruits at HMAS Cerberus (Westernport, Victoria).
I then started a corporate IT career, but in 2018 I was retrenched and transitioned into our small family business, Little Green Workshops, which had been a side hustle for me since 2012 but full-time for Kim. I love working for myself because there are no meetings and I don't have to wake up at 0500 for morning PT!
